Ursula Bloom first began writing as Lozania Prole in the 1940s with her serialised story “Our Dearest Emma” for the Sunday Dispatch newspaper. The serial followed the life of Emma, Lady Hamilton, and blended historical detail with fictional scenes. It was a great success, adding tens of thousands of extra copies to the newspaper’s sales. “Our Dearest Emma” also caused a literary sensation as people tried to guess which famous novelist was behind the Lozania Prole pen-name. The book rights to the serial were bought by Museum Press, who published it in novel form.
Following this success, Ursula wrote many historical novels based on real-life characters, particularly British royalty, as well as historical fiction, under the name Lozania Prole.
