Ursula Bloom first began writing as Lozania Prole in the 1940s, with her serialised story “Our Dearest Emma” for the Sunday Dispatch newspaper. The serial followed the life of Emma, Lady Hamilton, and blended historical detail with fictional scenes. It was a great success, adding tens of thousands of extra copies to the newspaper’s sales. “Our Dearest Emma” also caused a literary sensation as people tried to guess which famous novelist was behind the Lozania Prole pen-name.
